Welcome to the online home of the Here both members and visitors will find information about our organization, our semi-annual book sales and other events, membership and other opportunities to support the library's many worthwhile programs and services. There's also some background on the library itself, which serves the more than 70,000 residents of historic Yuba County. The main branch, at 303 Second Street in Marysville, includes The California Room, a unique and extensive collection of books and documents about our state's history. If you want to visit the Library's website, just click here. Follow the links to the left to learn more about the organization and how you can get involved. For information on upcoming and past meetings, click here.
Our Annual Meeting took place Dec. 8th at 5pm sharp. After a brief business meeting and election of 2012 officers, we adjourned to join the ribbon-cutting to help unveil the "new and improved " Library -- new computers, new floor treatments, new floor plan, new services and sections, including the new in-house Packard Bookshop where the Friends will be selling better used books to raise funds for Library programs and resources. Keyboardist Carmen Smith supplied festive, live music. The Brick catered refreshments in the Community Room, while the Library remained open until 7 pm for self-guided tours of the facilities. With new benefits coming online in January, now's the time to renew your membership or to join for the first time. It's only $12 a year! and you can click here for more information and an application. The Friends have staked out a little corner of the Facebook universe where we post info about events AND news of what's happening in the world of libraries and reading as well as highlights of which best-selling authors we are currently featuring in our bookshop (see next item below!). If you are on Facebook click here or the FB icon on our nav bar at left to visit our page. Once you're there, click your "Like" button to add us to your list of favorite pages. And feel free to post your own library and book related messages. Our dedicated Facebook URL has been set: www.facebook.com/PackardLibraryPals
